What does a wedding morning with CJC Hair & Makeup actually look like?
This little film from Charlotte’s wedding probably answers that better than I can.
We created it to capture what happens behind the scenes while a bride is getting ready – not simply the finished hair and makeup, but everything going on around it.
The people, anticipation, excitement… and that slightly surreal feeling that after months (sometimes years!) of planning, your wedding day is suddenly actually happening.
It’s never just about the hair and makeup
Of course, our job is to make sure you look incredible.
But after doing weddings since 2010, I’ve always felt that being a bridal hair and makeup artist involves rather more than turning up with a kit and applying some lipstick.
We’re there during a very particular part of the wedding day.
Before the ceremony, before the guests and before all the formalities begin, there’s this little pocket of time with the people you’ve chosen to have around you.
Sometimes it’s calm… sometimes it’s buzzy… and sometimes somebody has disappeared when they’re supposed to be having their hair done, and we’re trying to locate them without worrying the bride.
That’s wedding mornings. We’re very used to them – and we love them!
Creating the right wedding morning
Good bridal hair and makeup should never feel like something you have to squeeze into your day.
The team size, timings and order of services should all be worked out beforehand so that, on the morning itself, you don’t need to manage any of it – that’s our job.
You should be able to sit in the chair, chat to your friends, have something to eat, enjoy a glass of champagne if you fancy one, and take in what’s actually happening.
Because the goal isn’t simply to get you ready on time. It’s to make sure you have time to enjoy being ready, too.
