1. Tell us what you’re planning
Send us your date, location, timings, number of people and what you’re creating. Don’t worry if you’re unsure how many artists or how much time you’ll need – that’s what we’re here to advise on.
2. We’ll recommend the right support
We’ll review your schedule and brief and recommend the appropriate services, timings and number of artists.
For creative campaigns, Camilla can also consult on the brief and develop hair and makeup moodboards where required.
3. Confirm your booking
Our bookings team will confirm your artist or team, agreement and invoice so everybody knows exactly what’s happening before the day.
4. We take it from there
Your artist or team arrives fully equipped and ready to work alongside your wider production or event team.
If timings change or something unexpected happens, we’ll adapt wherever possible and help keep things moving.
FAQ's
It depends on what each person needs and what they’re being prepared for.
As a general guide, quick male grooming can take as little as five minutes, while an express camera-ready touch-up for women may take around 15 minutes.
For individual hair or makeup, we usually allow around 20–30 minutes, while fuller corporate hair and makeup generally takes 30–45 minutes, sometimes up to an hour depending on the brief.
Creative brand shoots, campaigns and more involved styling may require longer.
If you’re preparing multiple people, tell us your schedule and when everybody needs to be camera-ready. We’ll work backwards and advise you on the timings and number of artists required.
Yes. We regularly provide professional hair, makeup and grooming for corporate headshots, company portraits, executive profiles, LinkedIn photography and personal brand shoots.
The aim isn’t to transform somebody into a different person.
A great corporate headshot should still look like you.
We’ll talk to each person about how they normally wear their hair and makeup and create a polished, camera-ready version that feels natural and appropriate to them.
For larger company headshot days, we can provide multiple artists and shorter express appointments to keep people moving efficiently through hair and makeup and into photography.

Not necessarily “makeup” in the way many men imagine it!
Male grooming for camera is usually extremely subtle and may include reducing shine, evening areas of skin tone, concealing tiredness or blemishes, tidying brows, facial hair and hair, and making sure everything looks polished under professional lighting.
Some men only need a few minutes in the chair.
We know many male clients aren’t accustomed to wearing makeup and may feel apprehensive about it, so we’ll always explain what we’re doing and keep products to what is genuinely useful.
The aim is for you to look like yourself – not like you’re wearing makeup.

Professional cameras and lighting can emphasise things we barely notice in everyday life, from shine and uneven skin tone to flyaway hairs and small blemishes.
Camera-ready makeup is about understanding how skin, hair and colour will translate through professional photography or filming.
Often we’re using straight and corrective techniques: evening the skin where necessary, controlling shine, adding definition where lighting may flatten features and removing small visual distractions.
It doesn’t necessarily mean applying more makeup.
In fact, some of the most effective camera-ready makeup is makeup you barely realise is there.
It shouldn’t — unless that’s deliberately part of a creative brief.
For corporate headshots, interviews, presentations and executive appearances, we generally want you to look like a polished version of yourself.
If somebody sees your headshot online and then meets you in person, they should recognise you.
We’ll ask what you normally wear, what you’re comfortable with and how you’d like to be perceived rather than imposing a particular hair or makeup style onto you.
For creative campaigns, we can of course take things considerably further.
Yes. Our team has extensive experience across corporate filming, interviews, livestreams, editorial content and on-set hair and makeup.
For filming, we’ll consider professional lighting, shine, skin tone, hair, continuity and how somebody appears on camera while ensuring they still look natural in person.
Depending on your production, we can prepare talent before filming and leave, or remain on set for ongoing touch-ups and continuity throughout the shoot.

Where budget allows, having an artist remain on set can be extremely valuable.
Under studio lighting, skin can become shiny, hair moves, lipstick wears away and contributors naturally become tired over the course of a filming day.
Your hair and makeup artist watches for these changes and steps in between takes when required, while helping maintain continuity across your footage.
It also means your presenter or talent doesn’t have to worry about how they look and can concentrate fully on what they’re there to do.
For a simple headshot session or short appearance, ongoing support often isn’t necessary. Tell us what you’re creating and we’ll give you an honest recommendation.

This depends on the number of people, the level of styling required and — most importantly — when everybody needs to be ready.
One artist can move through a large number of people when appointments involve quick grooming or express touch-ups. Fuller hair and makeup naturally requires considerably more time.
For larger teams or tighter schedules, we can provide multiple artists and create separate hair and makeup stations where useful.

Absolutely.
We regularly prepare speakers, presenters and executives for conferences, panels, presentations and live appearances.
Stage hair and makeup requires a careful balance. Features need enough definition to carry under strong lighting and across a room, while still looking polished and natural in close-up photography, video and face-to-face conversations afterwards.
Just as importantly, the makeup chair gives speakers a little time to stop, reset and prepare before they step on stage.
Our job is to help them leave the chair feeling confident, composed and ready to deliver.

Yes — and we love being involved in the creative process.
For brand campaigns, advertising, PR and more conceptual shoots, we can work from your existing creative brief, moodboard, brand identity and references.
Where useful, Camilla can also develop a dedicated hair and makeup moodboard so the creative team can agree the direction before the shoot.
Our background spans TV, film, theatre, fashion, events and special effects, so if you’re considering something less conventional, involve us early. There may be considerably more we can create with the people in front of the camera than you initially imagined.

CJC Hair & Makeup is based in London, with artists across other parts of the UK, and we provide professional hair and makeup for corporate clients, productions and events throughout the UK and internationally.
Our team has supported speakers, productions and events overseas as well as across the UK, and travel can be incorporated into your proposal.

Yes. One of the advantages of booking CJC is that we aren’t limited to the availability or capacity of one individual artist.
We can provide multiple hair and makeup artists for larger teams, cover simultaneous locations and support multi-day productions and events.
Our artists know one another and are accustomed to working together, while your booking remains coordinated through one central point of contact.
For particularly large bookings, we can build the team and logistics around your schedule.
Sometimes, yes.
With a wider team and professional network behind us, we can occasionally accommodate bookings at very short notice, including the following day and, in exceptional circumstances, the same day.
We don’t recommend leaving hair and makeup until the last minute, particularly where multiple artists are required, but we understand that productions change and suppliers can occasionally let you down.
