As soon as you can, particularly if you’re getting married during the UK’s peak wedding season from March to September.

Popular dates can book well in advance, so there’s no need to wait until you’ve decided exactly how you want your hair and makeup to look. That’s what your bridal preview is for.

Booking early also means securing our current rates, as these can change from year to year.

Around four to eight weeks before your wedding is usually the sweet spot, and we generally wouldn’t recommend having it more than three months beforehand.

Too early and your ideas, outfit or wedding details may change. Too late and it can create unnecessary anxiety when you should be enjoying the final run-up to your wedding.

Ideally, have your dress or wedding outfit chosen before your preview, as the neckline, style and overall feel can all influence your finished hair and makeup.

Absolutely not.

Some brides arrive with an entire Pinterest board; others have no idea where to begin. Both are completely normal.

If you’d like to talk through your ideas before booking, we offer a complimentary consultation with Camilla to discuss your wedding, personal style and what you’re considering. Your bridal preview then gives you the opportunity to explore and perfect your chosen look with your artist.

For us, personality fit matters too. You’re inviting somebody into a very personal part of your wedding morning, so it’s important that you feel comfortable with them.

Bring any inspiration you have – Pinterest boards, saved photographs or even pictures of yourself when you’ve previously loved your hair or makeup.

If you already have your veil or accessories, bring those too. If you haven’t chosen them yet, don’t worry; your artist can advise you on what might work beautifully with your chosen style.

One tip when saving hairstyle inspiration: look at the front as well as the back! It’s very easy to fall in love with a hairstyle photographed entirely from behind, without considering what it will look like from the front.

Where possible, look for inspiration featuring hair colour, texture and skin tone similar to your own, and remember that many online images are heavily edited, filtered or overexposed. We’ll always talk you through what’s realistically achievable for you.

For most bridal hairstyles, we recommend washing your hair the day before your wedding. Very freshly washed hair can be soft, slippery and flyaway, making it harder to style and hold. There are exceptions, particularly for very fine hair, and your artist can advise you.

For your skin, our biggest piece of advice is not to suddenly change everything just before the wedding. Avoid experimenting with new treatments, products, fake tans or lashes immediately beforehand in case your skin reacts.

And don’t underestimate the basics: good nutrition, plenty of hydration and sleep can make an enormous difference to both how your skin looks and, importantly, how you feel.

On the morning itself, clean, dry hair and a bare, moisturised face are ideal unless your artist has advised otherwise.

Where we’ve completed a bridal preview, we generally allow around 90 minutes for the bride’s hair and makeup, or approximately an hour for hair or makeup individually.

Without a preview, we’ll usually allow some additional time.

Bridesmaids, mothers and other members of the bridal party generally require around 45–60 minutes per service/person, depending on their chosen look.

You don’t need to work all of this out yourself. We create a personalised schedule around your ceremony, photography and bridal party so that your morning feels calm and beautifully paced rather than rushed.

It depends on how many people require hair and makeup and, importantly, what time everybody needs to be ready.

As a general guide, one artist can usually look after the bride plus around three or four people requiring both hair and makeup. Larger bridal parties or tighter timelines may require additional artists.

This is one of the advantages of booking CJC: with an experienced team behind us, we can build the right team around your wedding rather than forcing your wedding morning around the capacity of one individual artist.

We’ve supported everything from intimate bride-only mornings to large celebrations requiring multiple artists.

Absolutely. Our minimum wedding booking is generally £500, subject to your location and requirements.

If you only require bridal hair or makeup and your booking falls below our minimum, you might prefer to add hair or makeup for your mother, a friend or another member of your bridal party rather than simply paying the difference.

For weddings involving significant UK travel or overseas destinations, different minimums may apply.

Yes. On your wedding day, we come to you — whether you’re getting ready at home, in a hotel, at an Airbnb or at your wedding venue.

Our team works throughout the UK and internationally, and our destination wedding experience includes Italy, France, Spain, Turkey and the Bahamas, amongst others.

We can also support multi-day celebrations including welcome dinners, rehearsal events, the wedding day and post-wedding celebrations.

Destination weddings are quoted individually, taking into account travel time, flights, accommodation, transfers, number of artists and the different events you’d like us to support.

This is one of the biggest advantages of booking through CJC rather than relying solely on an individual artist.

We have our own experienced team of hair and makeup artists, alongside a much wider professional network across the UK and overseas.

Genuine emergencies are extremely rare, but should one arise, we’ll do everything possible to arrange appropriate cover and ensure your wedding is looked after.

That’s exactly what professional bridal products and application techniques are designed to achieve.

Long-lasting makeup doesn’t mean heavy makeup. Longevity comes from choosing the right products for your skin and carefully preparing, layering and setting them in the right places. The same applies to your hair: your artist will consider your hair type, chosen style, weather and the demands of the day.

The one thing we can’t promise will remain untouched after eating, drinking and kissing is lipstick!

We’ll let you know what we’ve used so you can purchase your shade for touch-ups if you’d like. If you’re particularly prone to shine, blotting papers and a little powder can also be useful.

For brides wanting additional reassurance, we can also arrange touch-ups or a second hair and makeup look later in the day.

Our minimum wedding booking is generally £500, with bridal hair and makeup typically starting from £500.

Our Lavender, Mulberry and Amethyst collections have been created around some of our most commonly requested wedding combinations, but every wedding is different and our packages can be tailored.

Your final investment will depend on the number of people and services required, location, timings, number of artists, travel and any additional looks or events.
