A beautiful London wedding, a relaxed bridal morning and – rather unusually for the time – a ceremony being live-streamed to friends and family around the world.
Petra and Jeremy celebrated their wedding at The York & Albany in Camden, with CJC looking after Petra and her bridal party before the ceremony.
Petra’s bridal hair and makeup
For Petra’s hair, we created an elegant updo that swept the hair away from her face while still feeling soft rather than overly structured.
Her makeup followed the same approach: polished, flattering, and defined enough to photograph beautifully, without overwhelming her features.
That’s always the balance we’re looking for with bridal hair and makeup. You should feel special — it is your wedding, after all — but you should still recognise the woman looking back at you in the mirror.
Getting the bridal party ready
While I concentrated on Petra, another member of the CJC team helped me look after the rest of the bridal party.
Bringing additional artists is something we do regularly when there are several people to get ready. It means we’re not trying to cram an unrealistic number of services into the morning or asking everyone to start getting ready at the crack of dawn.
Instead, we work backwards from when the bride needs to be ready and build the hair and makeup team around the timings.
A wedding shared around the world
One of the things that made Petra and Jeremy’s wedding particularly memorable was that their ceremony was live-streamed.
That’s completely normal now, but at the time it felt rather novel!
It meant friends and family who couldn’t be there in person could still watch them get married – something that has since become a much more familiar part of weddings, events and our corporate work at CJC.
