What information we collect and why
When you enquire, we collect the details you provide, which may include your name, email address, phone number, event details and message. We use them to answer your enquiry, discuss our services and take steps towards a booking.
If you book us, we use the information needed to arrange and deliver your service. We keep booking, contract, invoice and receipt records in Giggio. We may share relevant booking details with the team members providing your service.
We use technical information, including IP addresses and website activity, to operate and protect the website and prevent spam. If you agree to optional analytics or advertising technologies, we also use information about visits to understand how the site is used and assess our advertising.
Our lawful bases depend on the activity: taking steps at your request before entering a contract; performing a contract; complying with legal obligations such as keeping tax records; our legitimate interests in responding to enquiries and protecting the website; and consent for optional analytics and advertising technologies.
How information is handled
Our contact form uses Elementor. Enquiries are emailed to our team and are currently also stored in the website database. We are reviewing whether we need to keep these additional website copies.
For some private events and conferences, we use SimplyBook.me to let guests book and pay for hair and makeup services.
GoDaddy hosts the website, and Google reCAPTCHA helps protect the contact form against spam.
Our team and the providers that support these services may access information where necessary to do their work.
Cookies and content from other websites
Our CookieYes banner records your cookie choices. The website uses technologies needed to operate and remember those choices. If you agree to optional technologies, Google Analytics helps us understand website visits and the Meta pixel helps us assess advertising.
Pages may display Instagram content, reviews or an embedded YouTube video. Those services may process information when you interact with their content.
You can change your optional cookie choices at any time using the cookie settings button on our website.
Processing outside the UK
Some of the providers we use may process information or permit access outside the UK.
Where we send you a payment link, payments are processed by Stripe.
Stripe receives the payment and transaction details needed to process the payment.
We receive the payment status and relevant transaction details, but do not receive your full card number.
How long we keep information
We aim to keep enquiries that do not become bookings for up to three years after the last relevant contact, unless an ongoing matter gives us a reason to keep them longer. This applies to enquiries received by email.
We keep booking and client records in Giggio while needed to arrange and provide our services. We review those records six years after the last completed service and delete information we no longer need. We may keep particular records longer for an ongoing matter or to meet a legal obligation. We keep tax records for the period required by law.
Our contact form currently also saves copies of enquiries in WordPress. We are reviewing these existing copies and whether new submissions need to be stored there.
We keep security and server logs for as long as needed to operate and protect the website or investigate a problem. Website backups are kept for recovery purposes and replaced or deleted according to the applicable backup schedule. Information deleted from the live website may remain in a backup until that backup expires.
Your rights and complaints
Depending on the circumstances, you may have the right to access or correct your personal information, ask us to delete it, restrict or object to its use, or receive a copy in a portable format. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it.
Email hello@cjchairandmakeup.com to make a request or raise a complaint about how we use your information. We will acknowledge a data protection complaint within 30 days, look into it and tell you the outcome. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at https://ico.org.uk/.
Changes to this notice
We will update this notice when the way we use information changes. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
