Vintage Inspired at St. Pancras Renaissance

Last August the lovely bride, Ashley, flew all the way over from Washington DC to wed her fiance, Stuart, in our beautiful city of London.

The wedding was at Islington Town Hall but she wanted to make full use of London’s beautiful landmarks and chose to do a Pre-wedding ceremony shoot in and around the beautiful, gothic building of the St. Pancras Renaissance Hotel, Kings Cross.

Now, this wasn’t just any shoot.  It was a sunrise shoot, which meant a particularly early start for everyone to catch the sun rising!

In fact, I think it’s my earliest wedding wake up call to date with my alarm sounding at 2am!

With a coffee to go, I made my way over to Holborn in lightning speed (thanks to everyone still being tucked up in bed and not on the road) and arrived at the Airbnb where Ashley was staying at 4am. We were on a pretty tight schedule to ensure Ashley, her mother and her aunty where all ready for 6.30am to make their way across to Kings Cross for sunrise!

The wonderful photographer, Kari Bellamy, was on hand to capture these beautiful images.

Ashley’s wedding day look was vintage inspired.  Her dress was absolutely stunning with draped beading and embellishment, and to complete the look she wore a gorgeous birdcage veil which we accessorised with a beautiful peacock feathered clip.

Ashley’s short hair was beach waved and set into a side parting with the feather clip securing the hair back on one side as a nod to the 20’s.  Her makeup design was also vintage inspired, although more of a 40’s vibe featuring a bold red lip and strong liquid liner.

Due to the fact that Ashley’s makeup was applied so early in day coupled with a lot of travelling for the morning shoot, we thought it best to give her a freshen up before the Ceremony.  As I had another wedding booking in, I left Ashley in the super-capable hands of Sophia from the team for later that morning.

Sophia’s main task was to brighten up any dulling areas of her complexion due to exposure to the elements and tiredness setting in.  Although most of the makeup was still perfectly in place, she replied lipstick to ensure that the red lip popped as well as tidying and smoothing down Ashley’s hairstyle.

In just under an hour, Ashley was once again looking every bit of perfection for the main event!

A huge thanks to Ashley for having us be a part of your special day!  You looked absolutely beautiful and Kari, these photos are stunning!
